A few of Abby's favorite things - after 3 days

My sister reminded me that I'm leaving out some important details about Abby. We've had her just over 3 days but I'll try and give you a little more info. This may be too much detail for many of you so feel free to skip if you wish.

First - from what I'm told it is pretty normal to take a few days or even much more to recover from the shock of being placed with a new family. Having said that, I'm pretty sure that she is still in that process so I'll share what we've seen so far.

Her favorite toy is a little photo book that we made with pictures of our kids. I'd like to think that she loves it because she is so so excited to have a new family and wonderful brothers and a sister to love and grow up with - but to be honest, I think she likes the feel of the slick plastic on the outside. She loves boxes with plastic around them, little bags of crackers or fruit snacks, not to eat just to play with and hear the crinkly sounds and chew on them.

She loves bubbles. We bought some bubbles and she really gets a kick out of it. She doesn't like to get her diaper changed.

She seems to cautiously like the bathtub. She is quite squirmy and she about went under the first time in but she seems to enjoy the water and hasn't cried in the tub.

She finally drank 4 ounces of formula today after we bought a new Chinese bottle at Wal-Mart. Hurrah!! She likes bananas, rice and noodles - in microscopic quantities of course. She likes congee, the rice soupy stuff they feed babies here, and yesterday she was quite pleased to eat French toast at breakfast. And tonight at dinner she really liked steamed pumpkin and dates - well, just the pumpkin.

She likes to clap and she shakes her head "no no" and will copy when we do it too. She says da da, ma ma, ba ba, and what sounds like ya. We're not sure exactly what she means but it is cute. She has a sweet little voice and makes some happy sounds when she is being held.

She especially likes to be held and have us walk around. She can sit up but tips over occasionally, she can't crawl and can't stand. She isn't too fond of headbands with little bows on them but she looks oh so cute with them on. She sucks her thumb occasionally and hasn't been too fond of the binky we bought at wal-mart in desperation yesterday.

And finally, that terrible standing baby trick that Shawn does with all of our kids. He claims she likes it but as you can see she didn't this time. She just woke up so she doesn't like anything at all right now.
